What’s Happening @ Travis
Camp TravisAuthentic, Camp Travis 2012, is scheduled for June 12-17 at Camp Windermere, Missouri. Early registration for students is $275 and runs from April 8-May 20; Late Registration is $325 from May 21-June 11. Guest speaker is Kevin Kirkland, founder of Katalyst Ministries in San Angelo, Texas. Washington Brooks will be leading the worship. Scholarships are available in the Student Ministry Office. Medical release forms can be found at www.travisyouth.org. |
Call of the WildDo you hunt? Do you fish? Do you like guns, bows, etc.? An interest meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, May 17 at the home of Don Spitzer for those who would like to participate in the new men's ministry at Travis. Hymn SingThe PraiSingers, Travis' Senior Adult Choir, will lead the congregation in singing many of the old standard hymns and gospel songs on Sunday, May 27, at 6:00 pm in the Sanctuary. You are cordially invited to join them for an evening of singing your favorite hymns. Admission is free. |
Children's Choir MusicalJoin us on Sunday, May 20, at 6:00 pm, as the Travis Avenue's Children's Choirs present their end-of-the-year program. The Preschool/Kindergarten and Music Makers choirs will be singing several songs, and the Young Musicians will be performing Spend Awhile on the Nile. |
Vacation Bible SchoolJune 18 - 22 • 9:00 am-12:00 NoonK5 - 6 Grade Completed Registration is now open for Vacation Bible School 2012. This year, we will explore “God’s Amazing Wonders” by taking to the sky, trekking the globe, and witnessing God’s great power through His creation. Click here to register: www.travis.org. All children need to be registered, including church members, to ensure we have accurate rolls. Please register your child online by June 13 to help us prepare our class rolls. Don't Waste Your LifeDon’t Waste Your Life, an eleven-week study based on the book by John Piper, will meet on Sunday evenings beginning June 3 at 6:00 in Room WC-201/204. The class will be facilitated by Ray Raley and Dr. Michael Dean. Cost of the book is $10. |
Billy Grable Gospel Concert SeriesEnjoy another great evening of Gospel Music at 7:00 pm on Friday, May 18 in the Travis Avenue Baptist Church sanctuary as the Billy Grable Gospel Concert Series presents Phil Cross & Poet Voices, Mitchel Jon, New Day and The Splawns. General admission is $10. Doors open at 6:15. Tickets will be available after both worship services beginning April 15. Musical ExtravaganzaOn May 25, TAFA students will take the stage at Travis Avenue for the annual Musical Extravaganza. Students will be performing scenes from Narnia, Oliver, Annie, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Willy Wonka and many others. The Extravaganza starts at 7:00 pm, and there is no charge for the event. |
Mid-Week ConnectionMid-Week Connection, a new opportunity to connect with God in corporate prayer and Bible study, is now being led by Pastor Michael Dean each Wednesday from 6:15-7:00 pm in the Welcome Center Upper Room. |

Cliff Lea is the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Leesburg, Florida. He grew up in Fort Worth, where he attended Southwest High School and later at Southwestern Seminary. He and his wife Suzy have five sons. Cliff is also the author of five books (www.clifflea.com) and formerly served as the Pastor of Yorktown Baptist in Corpus Christi and as the Minister of Missions at Travis Avenue.
