Let’s open our Bibles to Matthew 5:1. During these summer months we’ve been looking at those eight powerful, radical statements made by Jesus at the opening of His Sermon on the Mount. In honor of the words of our Savior let’s stand, and once again I want to read these statements together. Read Matthew 5:1-2. Before long school will be starting again; boys and girls may or may not be excited about that. But we never graduate from the school of Jesus. As His followers we must continuously sit as His feet and hear as He teaches us. Read Matthew 5:3-12. Let me lead us in prayer. As you’re seated keep your Bibles open to Matthew 5:9. (more…)

  • Bio & Introduction

    Dr. Michael Dean has been the senior pastor at Travis Avenue Baptist Church since 1991, having also served churches elsewhere in Texas and New Mexico. He and his wife Nan are blessed with two married children and three grandchildren. With a keen sense of calling to shepherd the flock of God entrusted to his care, Michael longs to see people become passionate followers of Jesus Christ. His hobbies include long-distance running, golf and hunting.
