For years I have attempted to change my devotional practices at the beginning of each year. Obviously the basics of Scripture reading and prayer are the foundation of whatever I’m doing in my quiet time, but I find it helpful to change things up each year. At the close of the year I begin to think and pray about how the Lord would have me structure my time alone with Him each day. I always come into the New Year with a sense of excitement about how I will commune with God in a new way during the coming year. (more…)

Our worship this morning will be built around prayer. If your schedule was like our schedule over the holidays, I found my normal devotional routine was interrupted by travel and other activities. I come to church today hungry for God. What better way to start our New Year than in an extended time of prayer. (more…)

  • Bio & Introduction

    Dr. Michael Dean has been the senior pastor at Travis Avenue Baptist Church since 1991, having also served churches elsewhere in Texas and New Mexico. He and his wife Nan are blessed with two married children and three grandchildren. With a keen sense of calling to shepherd the flock of God entrusted to his care, Michael longs to see people become passionate followers of Jesus Christ. His hobbies include long-distance running, golf and hunting.
