Dec 19, 2010 “Mission Christmas” Pt. 3

Thursday, December 23rd, 2010

We’re spending this Christmas season thinking about God’s grand mission in sending His Son Jesus into the world … Mission: Christmas.  Read Hebrews 9:24-28.

The writer of Hebrews explains what was happening when Christ was sent by the Father.  It tells us that he “appeared.”  Perhaps you noticed that word “appeared” repeated three times in the English text. “Home for Christmas”

Monday, December 20th, 2010

There’s no time of the year when people think more about home than at Christmas. Our celebration of the birth of Jesus will likely include time gathering with family and friends over a meal, around a Christmas tree, or at a party. Strangely, we nostalgically long for those gatherings … but when they actually happen they can become a nightmare as people get on one another’s nerves. (more…)

“Down through the Man-Hole of Eternity”

Monday, December 13th, 2010

I was running along the Trinity River Trail a couple of years back when a couple of utility trucks passed me driving along the gravel road. They caught my attention because of the dust they kicked up in my face. They stopped about a quarter of a mile ahead of me, but I really didn’t pay much attention to what was going on. This is the companion blog to “Atheist Advertising … What Are We to Think?” How should believers respond to the campaign sponsored by the Coalition of Reason. They have purchased advertising space on the sides of city buses for their message: “Millions of Americans are Good without God.”

My last blog suggests ways we are to think about this. Next let’s talk about what we are to do about it? (more…)

“Atheists’ Advertising … What Are We to Think?”

Saturday, December 4th, 2010

My city is in an uproar this week over an advertising campaign launched by an atheist group called Dallas-Fort Worth Coalition of Reason.  Splashed across the sides of city buses will be the message: “Millions of Americans are Good without God.”  In its wake the advertisement has stirred up a firestorm of both positive and negative reactions from all quarters.

So what are we, as Christ-following citizens of Fort Worth, to think and do about this?  Let’s start first with what we ought to think about this.  (more…)
