Craft Classes:  Choose 1

Name of Project: Tassel Jewelry      

Teacher: Rachel Adair

Participant brings to class: Scissors

Skill level: Easy

Skills needed for best results: Dexterity in fingers and wrist

Explanation of class: Ladies will learn to make tassels and incorporate them in current jewelry trends, such as those fabulous beaded necklaces seen everywhere right now!

Each participant will have the opportunity to make 2-4 pieces of jewelry.

 

 

Name of Project: Annie Sloan Chalk Painting

Teachers: Kim Brantley and Gayla Elliott

Participant brings to class: Paint brush and small furniture item to paint such as an end table, chair, or old picture frame

Skill level: Medium

Skills needed for best results: Patience

Explanation of class: Ladies will learn to transform something old into something new.

No paint prep is required for this project (such as sanding or varnish stripping), which is one of the many reasons to love chalk paint.

The class includes learning to distress and wax the furniture item for a vintage or antique look.

 

 

Name of Project: Personalized Christmas Wreath       

Teacher: Kelsi Brewer

Participant brings to class: Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks, sharp scissors for fabric cutting

Skill level: Easy

Explanation of class: Ladies will learn to create handmade fabric flowers in Christmas colors and patterns.

The flowers will be added to a grapevine wreath as an eye catching element for a festive and fun Christmas wreath.

As a finishing touch, the wreath will be personalized with a name initial.

Class Size:  10 max

 

 

Name of Project: Embellished Wooden Photo Display

Teacher: Jessica Estill

Participant brings to class: Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks, hair dryer

Skill level: Easy

Explanation of class: Ladies will create a unique photo display on wooden plaques using paint and distressing techniques.

Plaques will be embellished with a burlap bow and photo clip to create a single photo display.

Each participant will create two photo frames—one to keep and one to gift!

 

 

Name of Project: Make Ahead Freezer Meals

Teachers: Allison Kirchner

Participant brings to class: Ice chest or insulated bag with ice or ice pack for transporting food home, mixing bowl and spoon

Skill level: Easy

Explanation of class: Are you too busy to get dinner together every evening?

Do know someone else who is or maybe just needs a little help because of a new baby or sickness?

Join other ladies to learn about make-ahead freezer meals and how they can even be a ministry for those around you.

Each participant will leave with three assembled freezer meals, recipes, and tips.

Class size: 15 max

 

 

Name of Project: Personalized Canvas Art

Teachers: Heather Mallette

Participant brings to class: Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks, wooden letters, and scrapbook paper

Skill level: Medium

Explanation of class: Ladies will create a unique piece of art for their homes incorporating a personal monogram

with mod podge, scrapbook paper, and other embellishments.

Class size: 8 max

 

 

Name of Project: Birthday Wreath

Teacher: Audra Parris

Participant brings to class: Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks

Skill level: Easy

Explanation of class: Ladies will create a birthday wreath with attached chalkboard

for changing personalization of the birthday girl’s or boy’s name.

Class size: 15 max

 

 

Name of Project: Christmas Cloth Garland

Teacher: Kristin Sessoms

Participant brings to class: Sharp scissors for fabric cutting, rotary cutter (optional)

Skill level: Easy

Explanation of class: Ladies will create a simple, yet festive Christmas garland to hang on a banister or mantle,

use as table decor, or however else they may see fit.

Mothers, your elementary-age daughter is welcome to attend and work alongside you to create

a beautiful new Christmas decoration for your home, as well as a fun memory of this day.

 

 

Name of Project: Faux Mercury Glass

Teacher: Jan Smith

Participant brings to class: 2-3 clear glass pieces (jars, vases, etc.), an old towel, rubber gloves

Skill level: Easy

Explanation of class: Ladies will learn two different methods of transforming simple glass objects into

decorative faux mercury glass items that are so popular in current decor trends.

Class size: 10 max

 

 

Name of Project: Give Thanks Banner

Teacher: Julia Ward

Participant brings to class: (nothing required)

Skill level: Easy

Skills needed for best results: Patience, creativity, and the ability to pay attention to details and have fun.

Explanation of class: Ladies will create a beautiful autumn banner to hang in the home or use as a flat centerpiece.

This project involves decorative painting on Roc Lon, a drapery lining.

Name of Class:  The Gluten Free Life

Teacher:  Jennifer Bocks - Wife, mother and mother of child with Celiac Disease.

Class Description: For some people, gluten-free is a health choice, and for others, like Jennifer’s son, it is life-saving.

Whether you are gluten-free yourself, or the care taker, you don’t have to do it alone.

Come find out all she has learned from cooking to lifestyle, and receive support for your journey.

 Name of Class:  Party Planning on a Budget

Teacher:  Mrs. Lynette Johnson - wife, mother and grandmother

 Class Description:  Life is full of celebrations such as birthdays, graduations, engagements, anniversaries, new jobs and holidays.

This class will talk about fun ways to celebrate these events on a shoestring budget and will actually help you plan for your next event.

 Name of Class:  Self-Defense for Ladies

Teacher:  Officer Jessica Rowan - Officer Rowan is with the Fort Worth Police Department and is currently an instructor at the Police Academy.

Class Description: Come learn situational awareness for self-defense in daily life.

Officer Rowan will cover topics like getting prepared for the upcoming holidays and share

current events that impact personal safety along with hands-on demonstrations.

Name of Class:  Let’s Get Crockin

Teachers:  Nicole and Jenna—the Crockingirls from Crockingirls.com

Class Description: Come hear about menu planning, freezing ingredients, desserts, etc. for any season of life

and all for the crock-pot so you can have a home-cooked meal rather than driving through the drive-through.

You will also learn how to do “make-overs” on meals instead of having left-overs.

Ladies’ Thursday Morning Bible Study

Bible Study:  Creative Devotion Through the Word

Surprise!  Yes, come and be gloriously surprised by God’s transforming power in your devotional time.

Join with other women who desire to grow in their knowledge of the Bible and learn how to uniquely express that knowledge by their own design.

Ministry groups go to hospitals, create quilts, and mentor children through Kid’s Hope after the Bible study, if you wish to join a ministry group.

Women on Mission (WoM)WMU

Women on Mission meetings offer missions education which is aimed at encouraging, assisting and equipping participants toward of a life-style of serving and praying for others.

Active and Retired Missionaries are invited to speak to help participants gain a heart for the nations and a better understanding of the cultures and religious groups around the world.
